Overview Bali is an Indonesian island located at the western most of the Lesser Sunda Islands. It is one of the country's 33 provinces with the provincial capital at Denpasar towards the south of the island. The island is home to the vast majority of Indonesia's small Hindu minority. It is also the largest tourist destination in the country and is renowned for its highly developed arts, including dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking and music.
Population 3,891,000 in the 2010 census. There are an estimated 30,000 expatriates living in Bali.
Airport DPS : Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport ( Denpasar International Airport) is located in southern Bali, 13 km south of Denpasar. It is Indonesia's third-busiest international airport. The Domestic Terminal is located in the old building, while the International Terminal is located in the L shaped terminal. The airport has 17 gates: 3 in the Domestic Terminal, and 14 in the International Terminal. The Domestic Terminal has 35 check in counters, and 2 baggage carousels.
Climate You can expect pleasant day temperatures between 20 to 33 degrees Celsius or 68 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. From December to March, the West monsoon can bring heavy showers and high humidity, but usually days are sunny and the rains start during the night and pass quickly. From June to September the humidity is low, and it can be quite cool in the evenings. During this time of the year, you'll have hardly any rain in the coastal areas.
Best Season April to October is the best time to visit. The peak season for Bali is the months of July, August, and September. The weather is most dry in these months, and it is likely to rain very rarely. However, because the island is very crowded at this time, we would rather recommend coming in April or May, when the weather is almost just as nice, and there are less tourists. You will also get hotel and flight bargains for these times. An alternative time would be the month of October, which has similar advantages.
Meeting, Facilities & Amenities
To avoid December and January are the worst times to visit. It is monsoon season and can rain very heavily. Wet season starts in November until February.
Pros Southern Asia's most popular resort island with many good hotels. Bali received the Best Island award from Travel and Leisure in 2010 because of its attractive surroundings (both mountain and coastal areas), diverse tourist attractions, excellent international and local restaurants, and the friendliness of the local people. Bali real estate has been rapidly developing in the main tourist areas of Kuta, Legian, Seminyak and Oberoi. Most recently, high-end 5 star projects are under development on the Bukit peninsula, on the south side of the island. Million dollar villas are being developed along the cliff sides of south Bali, commanding panoramic ocean views. Foreign and domestic (many Jakarta individuals and companies are fairly active) investment into other areas of the island also continues to grow. Land prices, despite the worldwide economic crisis, have remained stable.
Cons A targeted terrorist attack, security becomes the biggest concern as well traffic roads and facilities are lagging the increasing numbers of visitors flocking to the resort island. Due to over-exploitation by the tourist industry which converse massive land, 200 out of 400 rivers on the island have dried up and based on research, the southern part of Bali would face a water shortage up to 2,500 liters of clean water per second by 2015.
